Where is he now

Currently, Travis is an Adolescent Caseworker working with at-risk students for the Clinton County Department of Social Services. As a part of this job, Travis focuses on keeping families together and helping young teens create a bright future for themselves.

Travis resides in Plattsburgh, N.Y. “I came for an education and basketball success and never left!” Travis said. He recently married a wonderful partner of over 16+ years, Amber Gorham. They met during their time at Plattsburgh State and “have been on this crazy rollercoaster together ever since.” Travis and Amber have six children: Essynce Rose-Mary (13 y.o.), Amara Vincenza (12 y.o.), Devai Providenza (10 y.o.), Kyrin Travis-Joseph (6 y.o.), and twins Astoria Terrie-Marie and Loxxen Christopher (both 4 y.o.).

“Quite honestly, every day is an accomplishment in and of itself,” Travis said.  “Coming from Bridgeport, Conn., where many didn’t make it out nor lived long enough to enjoy life, I appreciate daily being able to get up work and be with my family! Being the first in my family to graduate not only high school but to go on and graduate from college were two of the most important accomplishments in my life. Being able to break that cycle was HUGE!  Working with adolescent youth has always been a a passion of mine, and being able to work with kids is immensely rewarding. I’ve recently been able to begin coaching as well, which allows me to give some of my basketball experiences to kids as well. Being a part of numerous basketball clubs and camps, I have been able to impart my basketball knowledge to the youth in the North Country helping them to become better players in the sport and life. My biggest accomplishment by far is getting married and having my family. Every day, I wake up blessed beyond favor for the wife and kids I have! Truly couldn’t be more blessed!!”

Favorite Plattsburgh State Sports Moment

“My favorite Plattsburgh State moment was when we captured our third straight SUNYAC championship. All of that hard work that Anthony and myself put in over the years, staying up in Plattsburgh during the summer to focus and get better.  Everything paid off, and it meant more because we set out to achieve a huge list of goals both individually and as a team. Recording one of the best records in the nation that year, fighting back from lots of adversity throughout the season, just made everything that much sweeter when we won. We had so much fun and the journey was unforgettable! It’s a big reason why a majority of us stay in contact with one another and continue our BROTHERHOOD!!!”
