Hall of Fame
A record-setting student-athlete, De Young took to the swimming pool for his accomplishments. He recorded program-bests in the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle events and the butterfly. During De Young’s four-year career, the Cardinal swim teams compiled a 28-7 dual meet record.
Following graduation, he began a 20-year career teaching science and was the science supervisor in the Newark Central School system. De Young shared his swimming knowledge by coaching high school teams that went on to win many championships. He also contributed his time as a community service activist.
