Gaetan D’Anjou was a standout for the Plattsburgh State men’s ice hockey team from 1979-82, helping the squad to a 74-26-6 overall record and .726 winning percentage during that span. He racked up 96 goals (5th), including 23 on the power-play (9th) and 186 points (10th)--all school records when he finished his collegiate career.

“Gates” was known as an explosive skater with finesse-type skills as a centerman.  “He was one of our key players during my tenure,” said former Plattsburgh coach Herb Hammond, who served here from 1980-82.

The product of Noranda, Quebec, had his best season during the 1981-82 campaign when he received first-team All-America laurels after scoring a school-record 50 goals and 91 points.  The Cardinals won the SUNYAC title and advanced to the NCAA Division II championship game.

In fact, D’Anjou's offensive outputs of 50 goals and 91 points are fifth and ninth, respectively, in NCAA Division III history for a single season.

In the season before, D’Anjou helped a Plattsburgh squad that went 27-4-2 (then a school record for season victories) and earned a NCAA II championship game berth in its first national tournament appearance.

His collegiate trophy case includes two-time first-team all-SUNYAC, first-team ECAC West All-Star in 1981, two-time ECAC II West All-Star and 1981 MVP of NYCHA All-Star First Team accolades.

D'Anjou manages a family business in northern Quebec, Canada.
