One of the top goaltenders to play for the Cardinals, Strack was a force between the pipes. In his four years, he was a three-time All-SUNYAC selection, a member of the 1981NCAA Division II All-Tournament team and a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. That same Cardinals team reached the NCAA Division II Final Four. Strack set single season and career in multiple categories.

In the 1980-81 season, he posted a 27-4-2 record while collecting 1,007 saves. His 2,625 saves and 72 victories rank most all-time. During his four years, Plattsburgh State went 93-20-4. He was named to the program’s first All-Decade Team.

At his 1993 induction, Strack’s #1 became the first uniform number retired in any Cardinal athletic program.

Where are they now?
After graduating, he became an assistant high school hockey coach whose teams at Saint John’s Academy in Plattsburgh won three New York state championships in four years. Strack also played 76 games during a four-year professional hockey career at the AHL and CHL levels.
