Hall of Fame
One of the most accomplished student-athletes to compete at Plattsburgh State in any sport, Danielle Blanchard led the Cardinals’ women’s ice hockey team to its first two national championships in program history in 2006-07 and 2007-08.
In 2007-08, Danielle earned the Laura Hurd Award, which is awarded annually to the top player in NCAA Division III women’s ice hockey. Her name remains scattered across Division III’s career record book, as she is tied for third in shorthanded goals (13) and seventh in game-winning goals (20) while ranking 10th in points (177), 10th in power-play goals (25), 12th in assists (90) and 13th in goals (87).
The Newmarket, Ontario, native earned All-America honors four times during her career and was named the Most Outstanding Player at the 2007 NCAA Division III Tournament. Also honored within the department, she was the Plattsburgh State Female Athlete of the Year in 2006-07 and 2007-08.

Where is she now:
Danielle currently serves as the assistant women’s ice hockey coach at NCAA Division I Yale University after helping Plattsburgh State’s women’s ice hockey team win five national championships in six years as the Cardinals’ assistant coach. She currently lives in Milford, Conn., with her wife, Kaitlyn.
In terms of her greatest accomplishments, she says “marrying my beautiful wife and having a successful career as an assistant coach at Plattsburgh State, which gave me the opportunity to move on to Yale University.”
Favorite Plattsburgh State Sports Moment:
“I have so many favorite moments that there are too many to choose from, but if I have to pick, I would say winning the very first national championship as a player.”
