A posthumous inductee, Murray was a superior performer in basketball. At the time of his induction, he had set 10 offensive records during his three-year playing career. He scored a then all-time high 1,238 points while averaging season-bests 22.1 points-per-game and 20.1 rebounds-per-game.
The 1955-56 squad went a perfect 18-0 when Murray was a junior. After graduating, Murray enjoyed a 28-year career as a teacher, Dean of Boys and assistant principal in the Hempstead, Long Island elementary school system. He was also a supervisor of youth activities program for underprivileged children.
