Ron Cameron played on the men’s soccer team from 1974-1975 and ran track in 1976-1977 at Plattsburgh State.

Cameron made his mark as a track and field athlete, garnering All-America accolades in the 1600-meter relay (third place) and 400-meter high hurdles (fourth place) at the 1976 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.  He helped the Cardinals to a 10th-place tie in the team standings. At the time of his graduation, Cameron held State University of New York Athletic Conference records in the intermediate hurdles and 1600-meter relay, both set in 1976.

He was the SUNYAC champion in the 440-yard intermediate hurdles in 1975 and 1976, helping the Cardinals claim their only conference championship during his senior campaign--two seasons removed from when the team scored only six points in the SUNYAC meet.
