The 1975-76 Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team becomes the first team to be inducted into the Plattsburgh State Athletic Hall of Fame. Led by Head Coach Norm Law, the Cardinals were the first team in school history to advance to the NCAA Final Four in any sport.

The Cardinal men’s basketball team captured the SUNYAC regular season championship with a 9-1 record, won the NCAA Division III Eastern Regional and defeated the NCAA New England Regional Champion, Rhode Island College, to punch their ticket to the final four.

With a young roster that was comprised of seven freshmen, two sophomores and a junior, the Cardinals came together in the second half. Plattsburgh State won 10 of their last 13 games and finished fourth in the Nation.

Ronnie Wright led the team in scoring with 20.2 points per game, while Plattsburgh State Athletic Hall of Fame member Larry Parker scored 16.7 points per game and grabbed 17.7 rebounds per contest. Wright and Parker received All-SUNYAC, All-ECAC and All-State honors. Wright was named to the All-Tournament team at the National Championships and Parker was chosen as the most valuable player at the regional tournament.
