Joey Ferras ended his prolific four-year career in 1988 as the all-time leading scorer in NCAA ice hockey history, men’s or women’s, for any division. At the time of his 2008 induction into the Cardinal Sports Hall of Fame, his 359 career points still stands as a national record.
Ferras also holds school records for career goals (125), career assists (234), career power-play goals (60), assists in a season (69 in 1987-88), points in a season (99 in 1987-1988) and power-play goals in a season (21 in 1986-1987).
Ferras was the first Cardinal hockey forward ever to be selected twice to the AHCA All-America First Team. As a junior in 1986-1987, he scored 38 goals and had 54 assists for 92 points. He followed up that performance a season later with 30-69-99 scoring totals.
Ferras was a two-time first-team all-conference selection as he helped the Cardinals to three SUNYAC championships in 1985, 1987 and 1988. Plattsburgh went 111-43-1 for a .719 winning percentage during his 143-game career, including a 43-5 mark (.896) in conference play.

Joey Ferras is currently the head coach and director of operations for the Rapid City Rush professional hockey club. He resides in Rapid City, S.D., with his wife, Aynsley Chomiski, and his step-son, Taylor Chomski. After graduating from SUNY Plattsburgh, Joey played professional hockey for 13 years.
