Hall of Fame
The man for whom the Plattsburgh State baseball field is named after, Chip Cummings thrived on the diamond. Cummings played from 1953-56 where he compiled a career .350 batting average. Chip served as a two-time team captain along with fellow Hall of Famer Ralph Marcotte.
After his Cardinal playing career ended, he spent time as a teacher, administrator and school business officer for more than 30 years. Chip is a public servant, especially for youth organizations. At the time of his induction, he was a member of the SUNY Plattsburgh Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, a position held since 1977.
