Brittany Marshall excelled as a two-sport student-athlete for the Cardinals in softball and women’s basketball, helping both programs achieve championship success.
On the softball diamond, Marshall was named the 2012 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year, earned three All-SUNYAC selections and First-Team All-Region honors, and helped lead the Cardinals to the 2012 SUNYAC Championship and an NCAA Division III College World Series appearance.
On the hardwood, the two-time First-Team All-SUNYAC selection captained the Cardinals for two seasons, leading Plattsburgh State to the 2014 SUNYAC regular-season title and conference championship while earning SUNYAC Tournament MVP honors.
The Malone, N.Y., native also received the Plattsburgh State Female Student Achievement Award, the Dr. F. Reese Nevin Scholarship Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Biology, the SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award, and Capital One Academic All-District honors. Marshall ranks among the softball program’s top five in career runs scored, hits, stolen bases, and defensive assists. She also concluded her women’s basketball career as the program’s all-time leader in assists (498) while ranking second in three-point field goals made and fifth in points and steals.

Where are they now:
Brittany currently works as a Surgical Physician Assistant at the University of Vermont Health Network Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH), where she has been practicing since 2019. Her primary area of practice is Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, although her role has given her the opportunity to assist across several surgical specialties. She currently resides in Morrisonville, N.Y., with her wife, Amie, and their three dogs. While they do not have children at this time, she says “family is extremely important to both of us, and we are excited about what the future holds.”
Brittany considers one of her greatest professional accomplishments as becoming a Physician Assistant and building a career in surgery, particularly in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Becoming a PA required many years of education, training, and hard work, and she is proud to have a career that allows her to help people during some of the most challenging moments in their lives. Personally, she says that her biggest accomplishment is “the life that my wife, Amie, and I have built together to be one of my greatest accomplishments. I am incredibly proud of our marriage, the careers we have built, and the family and friendships that surround us.”
Favorite Plattsburgh State Sports Moment:
“It is hard for me to choose just one favorite Plattsburgh State sports moment, so I would have to say winning a SUNYAC Championship in both softball and basketball. Being a two-sport athlete was such an important part of my experience at Plattsburgh State, and having the opportunity to experience a championship with two different teams is something I will always cherish.”
