Hall of Fame
A two-sport All-American in cross country and track and field, Alyssa Recny was one of the top distance runners in Plattsburgh State history.
She earned USTFCCCA All-America honors in cross country after placing 25th at the 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, helping lead the Cardinals to a national runner-up finish.
The Keeseville, N.Y., native carried that success onto the track and field season, earning USTFCCCA All-America honors in the 10,000-meter run with a fifth-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Recny also earned CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team honors during the 2007-08 academic year.

Where are they now:
Alyssa worked as a physical therapy assistant after graduation for about 10 years before settling down in Montana in the food, liquor, and gaming industry. She was a General Sales Manager of a large sports bar with a full casino and live poker room and is now relocating to Colorado for a new job opportunity.
In terms of accomplishments, Alyssa states, “becoming a PTA has probably been my favorite accomplishment to date. It allowed me the privilege of working with all walks of life on an intimate level and truly allowed me to put myself in other people’s shoes even when I didn’t want to wear them. Because I had to experience a lot of rehabilitation myself, it allowed me to truly relate to their experience. I have always considered that to be one of the few things I am really proud of. I still have patients from years ago that keep in touch from N.Y., Wyoming, Washington, Illinois, and Montana. I love the fact I was able to help so many people across the country in a positive way.”
Favorite Plattsburgh State Sports Moment:
“When our women’s cross country team won second in the nation together at the NCAA’s.”
