NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team will compete at the NCAA Division III Mideast Region Championships hosted by Connecticut College at Harkness Park today, Saturday, Nov. 16, with the six-kilometer women's race set for 11 a.m.

Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y. / Wells) who has been the team's top finisher in three races this year and was the top finisher at the SUNYAC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 2. Smith placed 10
thearning All-SUNYAC second-team honors at the SUNYAC Championship helping her team to a fifth-place finish.
Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) has been a big factor in the scoring for the Cardinals this year finishing as the number two runner in all of her races except one where she was the team's top finisher. At the SUNYAC Championship that pattern continued as she found herself in 25
th place as the Cardinals' second runner across the line.
At last year's Mideast Region Championships, Smith was the third Plattsburgh runner across the finish line. While this will be Estus's first time competing in the regional championship, the one-two punch will look to finish towards the top end to lead the Cardinals.
Other Cardinals who contributed to scoring this year include
Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y. / Colonie Central) and first-years
Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville) and
Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem) who will look to challenge one another to round out the Cardinals' top five.
The last time the Cardinals were at Harkness Park was for the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19. Smith was the top finisher, placing 205
th, followed by Estus, Moran, Stuttard, and Cunningham. With all their top runners having experience at Harkness Park, the Cardinals will look to improve their placings to better their overall team score.
