Competitive Excellence, Academic Achievement and Community Service
The Cardinals compete in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL). We subscribe to the philosophy that athletics complements the total educational experience for our students. Our student-athlete cumulative grade-point averages are often above the GPA of the overall student population at SUNY Plattsburgh.
SUNY Plattsburgh sponsors 18 intercollegiate sports at the NCAA Division III level, which means our student-athletes do not receive grants-in-aid because of their athletic ability.
The Cardinals are perennial contenders for conference championships, individual postseason honors and NCAA Division III tournament berths.
Sports Medicine
SUNY Plattsburgh employs a staff of three full-time certified athletic trainers, several student workers and a team of physicians to monitor the health of Cardinal student-athletes. Head athletic trainer Jason Pachter is also a strength and conditioning coach.
