PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Junior
Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) finished first out of 46 runners with a time of 23:52.0 to help lead the Plattsburgh State women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Preview on Saturday afternoon. Estus's time marked a new personal best in the 6K for her overall in her first outing on the Rugar Woods 6K course.
In the team standings, Cortland took home first-place, recording 29 points, followed by Oneonta in second with 48 points to edge out the Cardinals, who placed third with 55 points.
Senior
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) and sophomore
Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville) also placed inside the top ten. Colvin came in seventh with a mark of 23:57.6, while Stuttard was a couple of runners behind, finishing in 10th with a time of 24:52.9. Stuttard's time of 24:52.9 was her best mark in the 6K by nearly two minutes in her first outing on the Rugar Woods 6K course.
The next wave of finishers included sophomore
Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem) and graduate student
Nora Graves (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh), finishing back-to-back in 18th (26:37.0) and 19th (27:27.4), respectively.
Senior
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) and sophomore
Jillian Head (Sloatsburg, N.Y. / Suffern) closed out the top seven for Plattsburgh, posting times of 28:45.0 and 28:45.0, while Head recorded her best time in the 6K and on the Rugar Woods 6K course as she ran it for the first time today.
Sophomore
Willow McLean (Norfolk, Conn. / Plattsburgh) and first-year
Lizzie Owens (Washington, D.C. Vicenza) both competed in their first collegiate 6K race. McLean recorded a time of 30:03.3, while Owens posted a time of 31:07.9.
The Cardinals are back in action on Sept. 20 for the Hoffmann Invitational hosted by St. Lawrence.
