NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships on Saturday at Harkness Park as Connecticut College hosted. The team finished in 20
th place with 594 points in the 6,000-meter run, with multiple Cardinals earning personal records in their second race at Harkness Park this season.
The Cardinals concluded their season with the race, as the team will now transition to the indoor track and field season.
Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y. / Wells) was once again the Cardinals' top runner placing 93
rd timing in at 24:03.3 besting her previous mark at Harkness Park by over 40 seconds as well as setting a new personal best overall. The next runner to cross for the Cardinals was
Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) coming in at 111
th place with a mark of 24:48.5 which was a new personal best as well to conclude her impressive first campaign with the Cardinals.
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) recorded a mark of 25:05.0 notching her a 119th-place finish.
Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y. / Colonie Central) and
Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem) rounded out the Cardinals' top five placing 140
th and 142
nd respectively with times of 26:08.0 and 26:23.4. Cunningham's mark of 26:23.4 was a new personal record by over 30 seconds.
Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville) also ran for the Cardinals posting a time of 27:20.0.
Williams took home the championship for the automatic berth into the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. hosted by Rose-Hulman. The individual winner of the race came from RPI as Jules Bleskosi posted a time of 20:47.30.
