2022-23 Schedule
2022-23 Roster

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.
– The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team kicks off its 2022-23 indoor season on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Saints Holiday Relays hosted by St. Lawrence University and looks to continue to climb the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) standings.

The Cardinals, who are led by second-year head coach Andrew Krug, finished fourth at last year's SUNYAC Indoor Championships, just one point in front of SUNY Oneonta.

Sprints

Senior Jessica Landman (Barneveld, N.Y./Holland Patent) leads the Cardinal sprinters among the returners, as she qualified for the SUNYAC Indoor Championships in the 400-meter dash last year. Seniors Madison Myer (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Carthage [N.Y.]) and Deanna Zoch (Nassau, N.Y./Columbia), junior Hannah Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) and sophomore Morgan Thompson (Porter Corners, N.Y./Corinth) all bring collegiate running experience to the table as well among the sprinters.

Newcomers to the group include sophomore Jessica Mare (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) and first-year students Mikayla Khadijah (Cairo, N.Y./Cairo-Durham) and Emily Stritzl (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park).

Middle Distance

Graduate student Aislyn McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) enjoyed a standout 2022 indoor campaign, qualifying for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in the 800-meter run. McDonough, who took second in the event at last year's All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships and SUNYAC Indoor Championships, looks to return to the national meet once again in 2023.

Distance

Among the returning distance runners, sophomore Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) leads the way after having qualified for the conference meet last year in the 3,000-meter run. Also adding collegiate track experience to the distance group are senior Andie Carroll (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) and junior Natalia Castro (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville).

Sophomore Grace Boyle (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) and first-year students Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls), Virginia Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), Jodie May (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) and Jayelee Southwell (Morrisonville, N.Y./Peru) round out the remainder of the distance corps.

Jumps

Junior Michaela Schaffer (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) will look to serve as one of the conference's best horizontal jumpers once again after a year in which she qualified for the SUNYAC Indoor Championships in both the triple jump and the long jump, placing sixth in the triple jump. She is joined this year by three newcomers: junior Becca Christie (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and first-year students Libby Daly (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) and Kailyn Ginter (Northville, N.Y./Northville).

Throws

Headlining a deep contingent of throwers is graduate student Kaitlyn Bjelko (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown), who scored points at the 2022 SUNYAC Indoor Championships by placing eighth in the weight throw while also competing at the conference meet in the shot put. She is joined by four other returners—seniors Izzy Kocienda (Rock Tavern, N.Y./Washingtonville), Jasmine Piper (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) and Maddy Taylor (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) and sophomore Alaina Conners (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson)—in addition to first-year student Mia Sanford (Saranac Lake, N.Y./Saranac Lake).

Multis

Both senior Mikayla Osmer (Cutchogue, N.Y./Mattituck) and junior Katie Bergé (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) bring collegiate experience to the table in multiple events, while first-year student Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) will also look to compete in the pentathlon this season.
