CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team placed second at the SLU Twilight Invite on Friday night, totaling 174 points.
In the sprint events, sophomore
Lexi McDonald (Altona, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack), first-year
Iysis Romani (Bronx, N.Y. / The College Academy), and sophomore
Anni Schneider (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker) placed fifth (13.48 seconds), sixth (13.67 seconds, personal best), and eighth (14.11 seconds) in the 100-meter-dash preliminaries to qualify for the finals. In the finals, McDonald placed third with a personal-best time of 13.03 seconds, followed by Romani in sixth (13.40 seconds, personal best) and Schneider in seventh (13.95 seconds, personal best).

Alexa Markowicz (Peru, N.Y. / Peru Central) and
Margot Danziger (Bethlehem, N.Y / Bethlehem Central) competed in the 200-meter dash, with McDonald leading the group in fourth place in 27.77 seconds. Markowicz followed in sixth with a time of 28.57 seconds, while Danziger placed ninth in 30.69 seconds, a personal best.
The hurdle events saw sophomore
Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y. / Ichabod Crane) place first in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a personal-best time of 15.63 seconds. McDonald had a strong performance in third (17.03 seconds, personal best), followed closely by senior
Mikayla Khadijah (Cairo, N.Y. / Cairo-Durham) in fourth (17.23 seconds). First-year
Jaelynn Lacey (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) rounded out the Cardinal finishers in sixth with a time of 20.47 seconds.
In the 400-meter hurdles, first-year
Kaitlyn MacDougall (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda-Fultonville) placed second in 1:15.71.
Senior
Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon) paced the Cardinals in the 400-meter dash, finishing first in 56.08 seconds. Sophomore
Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y. / Spencerport) followed in fourth with a personal-best time of 1:00.40, while sophomore
Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna) also recorded a personal best in fifth (1:00.53). Markowicz and senior
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) rounded out the finishers in eighth (1:04.21) and ninth (1:05.64).
In the distance events, senior
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) led the way in the 800-meter run with a second-place finish in 2:33.89. Graduate student
Nora Graves (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) also competed, placing fifth in 2:48.60.
Sophomore
Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y. / Franklin Academy) had a strong showing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing third with a personal-best time of 11:56.49.
Sophomore
Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville) placed second in the 5,000-meter run in 20:07.67, a personal best, followed by sophomore
Lexie Rostak (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) in third (20:08.24, personal best) and sophomore
Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem) in fifth (20:37.35, personal best).
In relay action, the Cardinals placed first in the 4x400-meter relay with the team of Mahoney, Scott, Wise, and Yarkosky, clocking a time of 4:18.98.
In the field events, senior
Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y. / Saranac) led the way with a first-place finish in the long jump, recording a mark of 4.90 meters. Other long jump finishes included first-year
Madalyn Wynnik (Dannemora, N.Y. / Saranac) in fourth (4.62 meters), first-year
Chloe Elliott (Bronx, N.Y. / Belmont Preparatory) in eighth (4.26 meters, personal best), and Lacey in ninth (4.24 meters, personal best).
In the high jump, Lacey placed fourth, clearing 1.43 meters, while Elliot finished fifth with a clearance of 1.38 meters. First-year
Jocelyn Harrington (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) was the lone Cardinal in the triple jump, placing fourth with a mark of 9.61 meters.
Junior
Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash. / Coupeville) led the way in the throws, winning the hammer throw with a mark of 38.38 meters. First-year
Elise Lendrum (Westerlo, N.Y. / Berne Knox Westerlo) placed third in the shot put with a throw of 9.14 meters.
In the discus throw, Jump placed second (28.51 meters), followed by Lendrum in third (27.94 meters). Jump also added another runner-up finish in the javelin with a throw of 28.04 meters, while Schneider and Khadijah finished back-to-back in sixth (21.73 meters) and seventh (20.46 meters), respectively.
The Cardinals return to action at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, hosted by Cortland. Only athletes who have met the qualifying standards will travel to compete.
