CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh women's track and field team is set to compete at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex.

SUNYAC CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: Overall, Cortland leads the SUNYAC with 18 titles, followed by former SUNYAC member Geneseo, now in the Empire 8, with 16. Fredonia has three titles, while Plattsburgh has yet to win an outdoor championship and will look to capture its first in program history.
ABOUT THE 2025 SUNYAC CHAMPIONSHIP: At the 2025 SUNYAC Outdoor Championships, Cortland captured the women's team title with 238 points, followed by Oneonta with 170 and Delhi with 111. Plattsburgh State finished fifth with 59 points, highlighted by a sweep in all 400-meter events. The Cardinals' 4x400-meter relay team of sophomores
Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y. / Ichabod Crane),
Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna), and
Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y. / Spencerport), along with senior
Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon), returns intact to defend last season's championship. Individually, Yarkosky will defend her title in the 400-meter dash, while Scott looks to repeat as the 400-meter hurdles champion.
Other returning individual champions include Oli Kraynik of Alfred State in the 800-meter run, Deirdre Sullivan of Cortland in the 5,000-meter run, and Jaiden Schrag of Oneonta in the 100-meter hurdles. In the relays, Delhi's 4x100-meter team returns three members of last year's quartet in Zoe Rodi, Shaesha Johnson, and Miranda Cole, who will look to defend their conference title.
In the field events, returning champions include Reilly Quinn of Cortland in the high jump, Nicolette DuBose of Oneonta in the triple jump, and Mackenzie Lawrence of Oneonta in the shot put. Kayla Tretola of Cortland, the discus champion, also returns to defend her title, while Cheyenne McPeek of Cortland looks to repeat in the hammer throw. AnJalyna Talmadge of Cortland returns as last season's heptathlon champion.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS: The Cardinals have been paced all season by Yarkosky, who holds the outdoor program record in the 400-meter dash. The senior sprinter won the event at last season's championships and enters as the top seed (55.26 seconds), setting up another strong push for gold.
Scott also enters as a top seed for Plattsburgh, holding the second seed (1:05.08) in the 400-meter hurdles as she looks to repeat her win from last season's championships. She will also compete in the 100-meter hurdles as the fifth seed (15.63 seconds).
Junior
Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) looks to move into a podium position, entering as the fourth seed (18:24.42) in the 5,000-meter run. Sophomore
Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y. / Franklin Academy) also aims for a strong finish, holding the fifth seed (11:56.49) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Other Cardinals in scoring position include Wise as the sixth seed (1:00.53) in the 400-meter dash, and senior
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus), who holds the sixth seed (2:26.26) in the 800-meter run. Junior
Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y. / Colonie Central) enters as the eighth seed (42:47.49) in the 10,000-meter run.
Plattsburgh State field athletes in scoring position include junior
Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash. / Coupeville), the sixth seed (30.99 meters) in the javelin, and sophomore
Anni Schneider (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker), who enters as the eighth seed (26.95 meters) in the javelin. In the jumps, first-year
Jaelynn Lacey (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) is the seventh seed (1.48 meters) in the high jump.
Other track competitors include sophomore
Lexi McDonald (Altona, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) in the 100-meter dash, first-year
Alexa Markowicz (Peru, N.Y. / Peru Central) in the 400-meter dash, and Mahoney in the 800-meter run.
In the hurdle events, McDonald and senior
Mikayla Khadijah (Cairo, N.Y. / Cairo-Durham) will compete in the 100-meter hurdles, while first-years
Kaitlyn MacDougall (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda-Fultonville) and
Addison Burt (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) are set for the 400-meter hurdles.
In distance action, senior
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) and Moran will compete in the 5,000-meter run.
The Cardinals will also compete in relay events, with entries in both the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays. The 4x100-meter relay team features McDonald, Schneider, Wise, Khadijah, first-year
Madalyn Wynnik (Dannemora, N.Y. / Saranac), and Markowicz. The 4x400-meter relay squad includes Yarkosky, Wise, Scott, Mahoney, and Markowicz.
Rounding out the field events, first-year
Chloe Elliott (Bronx, N.Y. / Belmont Preparatory) will compete in the high jump, while senior
Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y. / Saranac) and Wynnik will compete in the long jump. First-year
Jocelyn Harrington (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) is the lone Cardinal in the triple jump.
In the throwing events, first-year
Elise Lendrum (Westerlo, N.Y. / Berne Knox Westerlo) will compete in the shot put, while Jump will compete in the hammer throw, and Khadijah in the javelin.
In his first season at the helm, Director of Cross Country and Track and Field
Nathan Petesch will guide the Cardinals into the Outdoor SUNYAC Championship. With multiple returning champions and a strong veteran core, the Cardinals are positioned to contend for another strong team finish.
Friday's competition begins at 2 p.m. with the women's pole vault. Saturday's events begin at 10 a.m. with the women's heptathlon long jump.
WHAT'S NEXT: The All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championship is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 14, hosted by Ursinus at Patterson Field. Several Cardinals have already secured qualification, with additional opportunities to qualify at the SUNYAC Championships and the Farley Inter Regional, hosted by Williams on Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9.
