ABOUT THE CARDINALS: The driving force behind the Cardinals has been senior Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y. / Cornwall), who is coming off a record-breaking performance at the SLU Twilight Invite. The senior sprinter holds the outdoor program record in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, most recently breaking the 100-meter record on Friday, April 24, with a time of 10.57 seconds. Last outdoor season, C. Cypress placed third in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. He enters this year's championships as the sixth seed (10.57 seconds) in the 100-meter dash and the 11th seed (22.03 seconds) in the 200-meter dash.

Sophomore Nathan Webber (Cadyville, N.Y. / Saranac) is the only Cardinal holding a top seed, entering as the top seed (45.99 meters) in the discus throw with eyes set on his first career SUNYAC title.

Senior Samuel Van Auken (Greenville, N.Y. / Greenville) enters as the two seed (32:27.20) in the 10,000-meter run. Van Auken placed second at last year's championships and is in position to match or improve on that finish. He will also compete in the 5,000-meter run, where he enters as the ninth seed (15:51.57).

Other Cardinals in medal position include sophomore Thomas Clark (Stone Ridge, N.Y. / Rondout Valley), who enters as the fourth seed (14.99 seconds) in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Cardinals also feature two athletes in medal position in the field events, as fifth-year Jeremiah Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y. / East New York Family Academy) enters as the third seed (7.24 meters) in the long jump, and first-year Collin Pringle (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) is the third seed (14.23 meters) in the triple jump. Pringle will also compete in the high jump alongside junior Tyler Baker (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh), with the duo tied as the sixth seed (6.85 meters).

Right behind Smith in the long jump is junior Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill), who is coming off an All-American indoor season. Ritter enters as the fourth seed (7.12 meters), while Baker is the seventh seed (7.01 meters).

Other athletes in scoring position include junior Zander Brown (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Roy C. Ketcham), who enters as the eighth seed (10:24.63) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The rest of the track competitors for Plattsburgh include first-year Milo Pearsall (Cold Spring, N.Y. / Haldane) in the 100-meter dash, sophomore Ethan Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y. / Cornwall) in the 400-meter dash, and first-years Max Page (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) and Michael Slominski (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) in the 110-meter hurdles. Page will also compete in the 400-meter hurdles.

In distance action, sophomores Brody Serfass (Endwell, N.Y. / Maine Endwell), junior Nate Alexander (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus), and first-year Bryton Mandigo (Hartford, N.Y. / Hartford) will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Junior Matthias Lauvau (Rye, N.Y. / Rye Neck) and senior Jack Natali Jr. (Clayton, N.Y. / Thousand Islands) will compete in the 10,000-meter run.

The Cardinals will also compete in relay events, with entries in both the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays. The 4x100-meter relay team features junior Ryan Beltran (Bronx, N.Y. / Cardinal Hayes), E. Cypress, Pearsall, sophomore Brian Shannon (Goshen, N.Y. / Goshen), and first-year Giel Cheverez-Soto (Amsterdam, N.Y. / Amsterdam). The 4x400-meter relay squad includes C. Cypress, Cheverez-Soto, E. Cypress, Beltran, and Page.

In his first season at the helm, Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Nathan Petesch will guide the Cardinals into the Outdoor SUNYAC Championship. With a program record holder, multiple medal contenders, and a rising group of young talent, the Cardinals are poised to contend for another strong team finish after placing fourth last season, their best result since 2006

Friday's competition begins at 2 p.m. with the men's decathlon 100-meter dash. Saturday's events begin at 10 a.m. with the men's decathlon 110-meter hurdles.
