PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.
 – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team kicks off its 2025 outdoor season on Friday, April 4, at the Hamilton Outdoor Invitational hosted by Hamilton College, looking to continue to climb the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) standings.

The Cardinals, who are led by fourth-year head coach Andrew Krug, finished fifth at last year's outdoor conference meet and are coming off a sixth-place finish at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships.

Last year, Brexton Montville won gold in the 100-meter dash, with returning junior Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall) looking to improve upon his second-place finish in the 200-meter dash and third-place finish in the 100-meter dash from last season.

Distance

The returning group for the distance unit includes sophomore Nate Alexander (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), sophomore Zander Brown (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Roy C. Ketcham), senior Justin Kumrow (Mahopac, N.Y. / Mahopac), sophomore Matthias Lauvau (Rye, N.Y. / Rye Park), sophomore Graham Richard (Albany, N.Y. / Albany), senior Denali Rodriguez-Garnica (Port Henry, N.Y. / Moriah), and senior JT Zimmerman (Middlesex, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman).

New additions competing in their first outdoor season are junior Jack Natali Jr. (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands) and junior Samuel Van Auken (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville).

Mid-Distance

The team's mid-distance group in 2025 includes sophomore Matt DeJulio (Wynantskill, N.Y./Averill Park), who just had a solid indoor season, as he will be joined by newcomers and first-years Joshua Gaboriault (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) and Jack Gregory (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland).

Multis

Sophomore Tyler Baker (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) is fresh off his bronze medal in heptathlon during the SUNYAC Indoor Championships and will look to improve upon that finish in the outdoor season.

Seniors Isaiah Martens-Collins (London, Ontario/Penticton) and Faris Webber (Arlington, Va./Washington Liberty) will each look to build upon indoor seasons that saw them score in the SUNAYC Championships.

Hurdles

Baker will compete for the hurdles group as well in 2025, while first-year Thomas Clark (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) will look to build upon his first SUNYAC Championship appearance during the indoor season.

Jumps

The Cardinals boast a deep group of jumpers that had strong seasons in the indoor season and will look to carry over into the 2025 outdoor season. Sophomore Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) nearly medaled at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships in the long jump with a fourth-place finish, and first-year Jackson Hooper (Elizabethtown, N.Y./Boquet Valley) placed fifth in the high jump.

Other returning jumpers from last season include sophomore Locke Gerken (Berne, N.Y./Berne-Knox-Westerlo), junior Julius James (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes), sophomore Sampson Lin (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East), and senior De'Andre Watson (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh).

Newcomers to the jump unit this outdoor season are first-years Drew Duncan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown Heights) and Trevon Mitchell (Peru, N.Y./Peru),

Sprints

Despite the departure of last year's SUNYAC 100-meter champion, the Cardinals still have Cypress to lean on in the sprint group, as the junior is coming off his first career championship in the indoor season and will look to add to the two outdoor medals he obtained last year.

Junior Jordan Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) also returns in 2025 for the Cardinals after finishing in sixth place at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships in the 60-meter dash. Other returning sprinters include sophomores Ryan Beltran (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes), Aidan Lobdell (Westport, N.Y./Bouquet Valley), Justin Rushia (Warrensburg, N.Y./Warrensburg), and Ryan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore).

New sprinters joining the team in 2024-25 include Ethan Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall), Jack Scauri (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge), Brian Shannon (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen), and Hassani St. John (Trinidad and Tobago).

Throws

The Cardinals return just two throwers for the outdoor season as sophomore Chandler Baxter (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg) and junior Thomas Konnick (Cooperstown, N.Y./Laurens) will look to lead a young throwing core this year.

Newcomers competing in their first outdoor season are first-years Manny Oliver (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove), Zach Stevens (Queensbury, N.Y./Glens Falls), Nathan Webber (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac, and Hayden Wells (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac)
