UTICA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team traveled to Utica to compete in the Utica Holiday Classic. Junior
Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y. / Peekskill) broke the indoor program record in the long jump, posting a new program record of 7.02 meters.
Ritter's new program record in the long jump earned him a third-place finish.
Sophomore
Thomas Clark (Stone Ridge, N.Y. / Rondout Valley) posted the highest finish for Plattsburgh with his first-place time of 8.51 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
First-year
Milo Pearsall (Cold Spring, N.Y. / Haldane) earned a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash, recording a time of 7.12 seconds.
Senior
Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y. / Cornwall) posted the only All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) championship qualifying time. He finished in second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.21 seconds.
First-year
Giel Cheverez-Soto (Amsterdam, N.Y. / Amsterdam) made his collegiate debut, placing ninth in the 300-meter dash with a time of 37.47 seconds.
The 4x200-meter squad of
Ethan Cypress (New Windsor, / Cornwall), Cheverez-Soto,
Max Page (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown), and
Collin Pringle (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) placed fifth with a time of 1:35.44.
The field events were highlighted by a second-place finish from sophomore
Jackson Hooper (Elizabethtown, N.Y. / Bouquet Valley) in the high jump as he cleared 1.97 meters. Pringle was right behind him in third place with a jump of 1.88 meters, while
Tyler Baker (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) placed seventh with a mark of 1.78 meters. Baker also competed in the long jump, recording a jump of 6.69 meters for fifth place.
First-year
Rashid Okine (Schenectady, N.Y. / Schenectady) competed in the triple jump, posting a jump of 11.09 meters, while classmate
Roanan Ross (Memphis, N.Y. / Jordan Eldridge) competed in the shot put and weight throw with throws of 11.59 meters and 10.56 meters, respectively.
Chandler Baxter (Ogdensburg, N.Y. / Ogdensburg) also competed in the shot put, recording a new personal best throw of 9.68 meters.
Plattsburgh State returns to action in the new year, when the team travels to Middlebury for the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday, Jan. 17.
