SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior outside hitter Liya Girma (Sachse, Texas / Bishop Lynch) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Offensive Athlete of the Week for the period ending Oct. 5, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is the Plattsburgh State women's volleyball team's first weekly honor of the year and first time earning Offensive Athlete of the Week since Girma earned the award in September of 2023.

Girma averaged 4.33 kills per set and recorded a .241 attack percentage as Plattsburgh swept Potsdam in their home SUNYAC Opener. In the Cardinals' lone game of the week against Potsdam, she totaled 13 kills, four service aces, and two block assists for 18 points (6.0 points per set). Defensively, she added 10 digs for a double-double as well as 14 receptions and two block assists.

The Cardinals are back in action on Friday, Oct. 10, when they host Oswego State at 6 p.m.
