2024-25 Roster

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.
 – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team kicks off its 2024-25 indoor season on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Saints Holiday Relays hosted by St. Lawrence University and looks to continue to climb the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) standings.

The Cardinals, led by fourth-year head coach Andrew Krug, finished eighth at last year's SUNYAC Indoor Championships. Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) and Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) are returning scorers from last year's meet, as Colvin placed seventh in the 5,000-meter run and Smith finished in seventh place in the mile run. Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) also scored for the team in the pentathlon with an eighth-place finish. The team will also get some talented reinforcement with Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon), the outdoor 800-meter SUNYAC champ, competing in the indoor season for the first time.

Distance

Senior Sarah Smith and junior Marissa Colvin will anchor what should be a solid distance unit in 2024-25, one that saw both the aforementioned players score at the championship meet. The distance medley relay team from last year, which has three of the four runners returning, was fifth last season at the championship meet and posted an All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) championship qualifying mark.

Returning to the unit after the cross country season will be Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), along with Smith and Colvin. Five first-years make up the rest of the distance group with Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y./Bethlehem), Amber Gibbs (Hampton, N.Y./Granville), Jillian Head (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern), Lexie Rostak (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown), and Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y./Waterville) rounding out the squad.

Hurdles

Junior Mikayla Khadijah (Cairo, N.Y./Cairo-Durham) will anchor the hurdles group as the lone returner, as she is joined by first-year Alexis McDonald (Altona, N.Y./Northern Adirondack)

Mid-Distance

Competing in her first indoor season, junior Grace Yarkosky will look to follow up a fantastic outdoor debut with an even better indoor debut this season, anchoring the mid-distance group. Sophomore Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa), who is coming off her first cross country season, should primed and ready for her second-year campaign.

Also returning to this group in 2024-25 will be Kailyn Ginter (Northville, N.Y./Northville), Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y. /Colonie Central), and Julia Robinson (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East).

Multis

Marissa LeDuc will look to be a consistent source of points this season after two season posting AARTFC marks in the pentathlon.

Sprints

The largest group on the team this season will also be the youngest as the Cardinals bring back no returners to the sprints crew in 2024-25.

This year the unit is comprised of Britney Bartley (Bronx, N.Y.), Shyloh Carroll (Chazy, N.Y./Chazy), Samiyah Coull (Brooklyn, N.Y./Paul Robeson), Meadow Cupps (Norwood, N.Y./Norwood Norfolk), Deja Davis (Bronx, N.Y./Paul Robeson), Gabrielle Dia (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers), Kasey Eaton (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central), Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport), Smytha Persaud (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern), Anni Schneider (Latham, N.Y./Shaker), Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane), Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna), and Olivia Wright (Brooklyn, N.Y./Williamsburg Preparatory).

Throws

The Cardinals return two throwers this season, as senior Alaina Conners (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) will lead the group this season, and Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash./Coupeville) will continue to be a scoring threat at meets this year.

Tessy Huntley (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and Harmony Sanders (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo) help round out the 2024-25 throwing unit.
