MEET RESULTS
CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field 4x400-meter relay squad of sophomores
Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y. / Ichabod Crane),
Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y. / Spencerport),
Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna), along with senior
Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon) captured first place as the Cardinals concluded action at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The quartet recorded an All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifying time of 4:02.16 to secure back-to-back titles. Plattsburgh finished seventh overall with 39 points, while Cortland won the meet with 250 points.
Scott added to her individual career medal count with a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, posting an AARTFC qualifying and personal-best time of 1:05.55. She also contributed to the team score in the 100-meter hurdles, placing seventh in 15.95 seconds.
Other Cardinals who scored included Wise, who placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.91, and senior
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus), who finished seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.13.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, sophomore
Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y. / Franklin Academy) recorded an AARTFC qualifying mark with a personal-best time of 11:43.95 to place fourth, narrowly missing a medal.
In other distance action, junior
Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) paced the Cardinals in the 5,000-meter run with an AARTFC qualifying and personal-best time of 18:15.64.
In relay competition, the 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore
Anni Schneider (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker), first-year
Alexa Markowicz (Peru, N.Y. / Peru Central), first-year
Madalyn Wynnik (Dannemora, N.Y. / Saranac), and sophomore
Lexi McDonald (Altona, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) added two points for Plattsburgh, placing seventh in 52.94 seconds.
Estus was awarded the prestigious SUNYAC Elite 20 Award, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, which recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. An English major, she currently holds a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Plattsburgh earned a total of five All-SUNYAC honors (one individual and four relay runners). All-league recognition is awarded to the top three finishers in each event, with first place earning first team, second place earning second team, and third place earning third team honors:
