PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Senior
Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) of the Plattsburgh State women's track and field team will make her third appearance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships when she competes in the 400-meter hurdles prelims on Thursday, May 25, at St. John Fisher College's Polisseni Track and Field Complex.
Barber also qualified for the national meet in 2019 and 2022, competing in the 400-meter hurdles in 2019 and 2022 while also running on the Cardinals' 4x400-meter relay in 2019. She qualified for finals in the 400-meter hurdles last year.
She enters the meet with the sixth-fastest time in NCAA Division III in the 400-meter hurdles so far this season, as she clocked a program-record time of 1:00.70 at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Championships on May 5. Notably, three of the top six performers so far this season are represented by SUNYAC schools, as Buffalo State's Natalia Sawyer enters the national meet with the top seed (58.61), while SUNY Geneseo's Gwen Shepardson is ranked second (59.28).
Barber will occupy lane six of the third and final heat of the 400-meter hurdles prelims on Thursday; the event begins at 6:20 p.m. The top eight advance to Saturday's final, which begins at 3:25 p.m.
