SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team concluded action at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Susquehanna University on Thursday, tying for 32nd out of 59 teams with nine points.
Senior
Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) and graduate student
Aislyn McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) each scored points for the Cardinals, with Barber placing third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.21) and McDonough taking sixth in the 800-meter run (2:16.70). First-year student
Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) finished ninth in the heptathlon (3,748 points) and graduate student
Kaitlyn Bjelko (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) took 10th in the shot put (12.29 meters – 40' 4") to round out the Cardinal student-athletes who competed on Thursday.
Barber currently ranks sixth in NCAA Division III in the 400-meter hurdles and will almost assuredly compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships from Thursday-Saturday, May 25-27, at St. John Fisher College. The preliminary heats of the 400-meter hurdles are slated for 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, while the top-nine finishers in prelims advance to Saturday's final at 3:25 p.m.
