ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior
Anthony Ciccarelli (Smithtown, N.Y./Commack) and freshman
Brendyn Marrero (Rock Tavern, N.Y./Washingtonville) of the Plattsburgh State men's track and field team each put themselves in position to score points in the respective events in which they competed on day one of the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships hosted by Nazareth College on Friday.
Ciccarelli currently ranks seventh in the heptathlon with a score of 2,388 points through four events. In the component events of the heptathlon, he won the shot put (11.56 meters – 37' 11.25"), placed fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.38), finished eighth in the long jump (5.95 meters – 19' 6.25") and tied for 11th in the high jump (1.62 meters – 5' 3.75"). Ciccarelli will complete the event tomorrow by competing in the 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000-meter run.
Marrero qualified for Saturday's 60-meter dash final, as he took eighth overall in the trial heats with a time of 7.07.
