UTICA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team currently ranks 13th out of 22 teams following day one of the Utica College Blue and Orange Invitational & Multi, as the Cardinals compiled 26 points on Saturday. Plattsburgh State does not have any competitors in the heptathlon, a two-day scored event that finishes tomorrow.

Junior Andrew Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) set a facility record in the 1,000-meter run, charting an event-winning time of 2:31.86. His performance bettered the former facility standard of 2:35.29, set by Dillon Aryeh of Colgate University last year. Junior Joseph Chianese (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:46.20. Freshman Brendyn Marrero (Rock Tavern, N.Y./Washingtonville) scored points in the 60-meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 7.18, while freshman Marlon Peak Jr. (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland) covered the 400-meter dash in an eighth-place time of 52.64.

The 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Liam Gildea (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville), junior Arthur Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland), freshman Ryan Worobey (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) and An. Horan scored a point by placing 11th in the event with a time of 3:41.09.

Plattsburgh State next competes at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University from Friday-Saturday, Feb. 14-15.
