CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team combined for seven first-place finishes, as the Cardinals placed second out of six teams with 154 points at the SLU Open hosted by St. Lawrence University on Friday.
 
The 4x200-meter relay team of freshmen Brendyn Marrero (Rock Tavern, N.Y./Washingtonville), Cameron Aviles (Campbell Hall, N.Y./Washingtonville), Brexton Montville (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac) and Jared Davidson (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) combined for a first-place time of 1:31.66, which current stands second in the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC).
 
First-place finishes also came from Marrero in the 200-meter dash (23.10), Davidson in the 300-meter dash (35.52), freshman Marlon Peak Jr. (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland) in the 400-meter dash (53.00), senior Andrew Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) in the 800-meter run (1:57.08), senior Anthony Ciccarelli (Smithtown, N.Y./Commack) in the pole vault (3.35 meters – 10' 11.75") and the 4x400-meter relay team of freshmen Nicholas Boncore (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) and Josh Herman (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster), junior Joseph Chianese (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) and freshman Ryan Worobey (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) that clocked a 3:43.17.
 
In the 60-meter dash, freshman Kymanni Weston (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) took fourth with a time of 7.32, while Aviles (23.38), Montville (23.57) and Weston (23.58) helped the Cardinals place first through fourth in the 200-meter dash. Sophomore Jared Leaper (Scotia Glenville, N.Y./Scotia Glenville) took second in the 300-meter dash (40.51), while Worobey (2:03.80), Boncore (2:04.28) and Chianese (2:05.18) placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 800-meter run.
 
Junior Brendon VanVlack (Duanesburg, N.Y./Duanesburg) and Herman placed fourth (4:43.59) and fifth (4:47.75), respectively, in the mile run, while Leaper and Ciccarelli finished second (9.29) and third (9.39), respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles. In the weight throw, freshman Aidan Tous (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) took fifth with a mark of 11.22 meters (36' 9.75").
 
St. Lawrence topped the team standings with 197.5 points, while Herkimer County Community College placed third (70.50 points).

Plattsburgh State next competes at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Championships from Friday-Saturday, Feb. 28-29, at The College at Brockport.
