MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Freshman
Brendyn Marrero (Rock Tavern, N.Y./Washingtonville) won the 60-meter dash and senior
Anthony Ciccarelli (Smithtown, N.Y./Commack) won the 60-meter hurdles, as the Plattsburgh State men's track and field team placed third out of six teams at the Middlebury Winter Classic hosted by Middlebury College on Saturday.

The Cardinals scored 124.5 points, besting host Middlebury (fourth, 83), Union College (fifth, 80) and Castleton University (sixth, 36). NCAA Division II Franklin Pierce University won the team title with 147.5 points, while Plymouth State University took second with 129 points.

Marrero broke the facility record in the 60-meter dash, finishing the race in a first-place time of 7.16. That mark erased the former facility record of 7.41. In addition, Ciccarelli topped the 60-meter hurdles field with a time of 9.16.

Second-place finishes came from freshman
Jared Davidson (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) in the 400-meter dash (51.73), junior
Arthur Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) in the 800-meter run (2:06.33) and the 4x400-meter relay team of Davidson, freshman
Marlon Peak Jr., freshman
Brexton Montville (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac) and Marrero that clocked a time of 3:35.31.

The Cardinals also received third-place finishes from Davidson in the 200-meter dash (23.06), Peak Jr. in the 400-meter dash (53.96), freshman
Erik Sicko (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater) in the 800-meter run (2:06.76), junior
Andrew Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) in the 3,000-meter run (9:21.34) and sophomore
Jacob Leaper (Scotia Glenville, N.Y./Scotia Glenville) in the 60-meter hurdles (9.89).

Plattsburgh State next competes at the St. Lawrence Invitational hosted by St. Lawrence University on Saturday, Jan. 18.
