PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Division III Week continues today, Tuesday, April 7, as NCAA Division III institutions across the country celebrate the unique student‑athlete experience. Throughout the week, we are spotlighting student-athletes on social media, providing them with a platform to share what it means to compete at the Division III level by answering a series of questions.

Today, we will hear from Brianna Wise, a sophomore sprinter on the women's track and field team, as she shares her answers to the prompts below.

What's your favorite part about being a Division III student-athlete?

"Being in a conference where I can compete against others who are on my level."

What's the toughest part about balancing your sport, academics, and social life, and how do you handle it?

"Balancing my sport can be difficult at times because of constant track meets every weekend, it feels like there's no break. The toughest part is remembering that I need to put myself and my academics first before my sport, even when I don't want to."

What values has Division III built into you?

"My leadership skills, accountability, and courage have improved."

What made you choose the Division III path over other options?

"I chose Division III over other options because the coaches understand that academics come first and prioritize that over everything."

How do you take pride in representing SUNY Plattsburgh?

"I take pride in knowing I represent all the other athletes who care and work hard in their sports."

What is one moment as a student-athlete at Plattsburgh State that you'll never forget?

"Celebrating my first SUNYAC medal with my 4x400-meter relay team."

In three words, how would you describe your student-athlete experience?

"Accomplishing, Balanced, Rewarding"
