TROY, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the RPI Friday Night Under the Lights & Alumni Meet on Saturday evening. As a team, the Cardinals finished fifth with 41.5 total points, while UAlbany won the meet with 285 total points.
The 100-meter hurdles preliminaries opened the track events, where sophomore
Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y. / Ichabod Crane) narrowly missed the finals with a personal-best time of 16.10 seconds, placing 10th. First-year
Addison Burt (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) also recorded a personal best, finishing in 19.02 seconds.
Scott also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, placing fifth in 1:06.06. First-year
Kaitlyn MacDougall (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda-Fultonville) finished ninth in 1:14.45, just missing a scoring position while recording a personal best. Burt also posted a personal best in the event, placing 10th in 1:19.02, while senior
Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y. / Saranac) rounded out Plattsburgh's finishers with a personal-best 1:23.96 for 12th place.
In the 100-meter dash preliminaries, senior
Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon) led the Cardinals by qualifying for the finals with a personal-best 12.69 seconds, placing fourth. Sophomore
Lexi McDonald (Altona, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) also advanced, finishing ninth in 13.16 seconds, while sophomore
Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna) placed 10th in 13.28 seconds, another personal best. Sophomore
Anni Schneider (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker) and first-year
Margot Danziger (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem Central) also posted career-best marks in the preliminaries, timing in at 14.05 and 14.54 seconds, respectively. In the finals, Yarkosky matched her personal best to place fourth in 12.69 seconds, while McDonald finished eighth in a new personal-best 13.09 seconds.
In the unseeded 200-meter dash, Wise led Plattsburgh with a fourth-place finish in 27.55 seconds. First-year
Alexa Markowicz (Peru, N.Y. / Peru Central) placed ninth with a personal-best 28.25 seconds. First-years
Madalyn Wynnik (Dannemora, N.Y. / Saranac) and
Jaelynn Lacey (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) also recorded personal bests, finishing in 29.29 and 30.31 seconds, respectively.
In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of Danziger, Schneider, first-year
Jocelyn Harrington (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls), and Markowicz placed fifth in 53.11 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team of Markowicz, Wise, MacDougall, and sophomore
Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y. / Spencerport) finished fourth in 4:18.47.
Mahoney also competed in the 800-meter run, leading Plattsburgh with a 10th-place finish in 2:28.05, a personal best.
In the field events, Lacey led the Cardinals in the high jump, clearing 1.48 meters to place fifth. Harrington earned points in the triple jump with an eighth-place finish of 9.57 meters.
The Cardinals return to action Friday, Apr. 17, traveling to UAlbany for the Bobbi Palma UAlbany Spring Classic.
