Collin Pringle (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) of the Plattsburgh State men's track and field team broke the outdoor program record in the triple jump with a mark of 14.23 meters, finishing second on Day Two of the RPI Friday Night Under the Lights & Alumni Meet. As a team, the Cardinals placed fourth with 53 total points, while UAlbany won the meet with 262 total points.
The 110-meter hurdles preliminaries opened the track events, where first-year
Max Page (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) qualified for the finals and went on to place seventh with a personal-best time of 16.22 seconds.
In the 100-meter dash preliminaries, first-year
Milo Pearsall (Cold Spring, N.Y. / Haldane) led Plattsburgh with a personal-best 11.49 seconds, placing 12th. Sophomore
Brian Shannon (Goshen, N.Y. / Goshen) also recorded a personal best at 11.68 seconds for 19th place. Additional notable performances came from first-year
Giel Cheverez-Soto (Amsterdam, N.Y. / Amsterdam) and sophomore
Jack Scauri (Hauppauge, N.Y. / Hauppauge), who clocked 11.77 and 11.99 seconds, respectively, both personal bests.
In the unseeded 200-meter dash, senior
Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y. / Cornwall) led the way with a first-place finish in 22.44 seconds. Cheverez-Soto followed in second with a personal-best time of 23.01 seconds.
In relay action, the Cardinals' 4x100-meter team of C. Cypress, sophomore
Ethan Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y. / Cornwall), Pearsall, and fifth-year
Jeremiah Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y. / East New York Family Academy) placed fourth in 43.27 seconds.
Junior
Zander Brown (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Roy C. Ketcham) finished ninth in the unseeded 1,500-meter run in a personal-best time of 4:22.77.
C. Cypress paced the Cardinals in the 400-meter dash, placing eighth in 50.39 seconds.
In the field events, junior
Tyler Baker (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters. Sophomore
Nathan Webber (Cadyville, N.Y. / Saranac) earned points in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 44.21 meters to place eighth, while first-year
Caleb Lewis (New City, N.Y.) also recorded a personal best with a throw of 37.41 meters.
