NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team competed on Day One of the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships on Friday.
After day one, Plattsburgh sits tied for 21st place with two points.
Fifth-year
Jeremiah Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y. / East New York Family Academy) was the lone Cardinal to score, posting an impressive personal-best jump of 6.99 meters in the long jump to finish seventh and earn two points.
In the distance events, senior
Samuel Van Auken (Greenville, N.Y. / Greenville) turned in a strong performance in the 5,000-meter run, placing 11th with a personal-best time of 15:10.25.
In the 60-meter dash, seniors
Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y. / Cornwall) and
Jordan Williams (Bronx, N.Y. / Cardinal Hayes) finished 20th (7.01 seconds) and 29th (7.06 seconds), respectively.
Sophomore
Thomas Clark (Stone Ridge, N.Y. / Rondout Valley) also competed in the sprints, posting a time of 8.81 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
Junior
Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y. / Peekskill) also competed in the long jump, recording a leap of 6.79 meters to place 15th.
The Cardinals will resume competition at the AARTFC Indoor Championships tomorrow, Mar. 7, at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory.
