BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team is set to compete at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Special Events Recreation Center.
TICKET PRICING: Tickets will be available for purchase on site. Sales and doors open at 2 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

SUNYAC CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: Overall, Fredonia holds the most titles with 16, followed by former SUNYAC member Geneseo, now a member of the Empire 8 Conference, with 14, and Cortland with eight.
ABOUT THE 2025 SUNYAC CHAMPIONSHIP: At the 2025 SUNYAC Indoor Championships, Cortland captured the men's team title with 233 points, followed by Oneonta with 103 and Fredonia with 82, while Plattsburgh State finished sixth with 41 points, largely on the strength of their heptathlon competitors. Individual event champions included senior
Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y. / Cornwall) of Plattsburgh State in the 60-meter dash, and he returns to defend his SUNYAC title.
Other returning individual champions include Sidney Morris of Buffalo State in the 800-meter run, Chris Schimkus of Oneonta in the 5,000-meter run, and Tariq Earl of Oneonta in the 60-meter hurdles. In the relays, SUNY Delhi's 4x400-meter team returns three of last year's quartet in Richard Fuller, Leonardo Ballentine, and Neklor Smith, who will defend their conference title, and Oneonta's Justin Berkowitz returns from last season's distance medley relay championship.
In the field events, returning champions include Ayobami Adebayo of Oneonta in the high jump, Cameron Sample of Fredonia in the long jump, and Isaiah Brunache of Cortland in both the shot put and weight throw. John Anderson of Cortland returns as last season's heptathlon champion.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS: All season long, C. Cypress has led the way for the Cardinals, breaking two program records. C. Cypress currently sits as the second seed in the 200-meter dash (22.17) and the third seed in the 60-meter dash (6.89). The Plattsburgh program record holder in the 60-meter dash will look to defend his SUNYAC title and add to his indoor medal count. After breaking his own 200-meter record, he is also in contention for a title in the 200-meter dash as the second seed.
Senior
Samuel Van Auken (Greenville, N.Y. / Greenville) enters as the top seed in the 3,000-meter run (8:49.34) and 5,000-meter run (15:15.03). First-year
Collin Pringle (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) is the top seed in the high jump (1.94m) and looks to earn his first career medal.
Junior
Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y. / Peekskill) and sophomore
Thomas Clark (Stone Ridge, N.Y. / Rondout Valley) are both seeded fifth and will aim for a podium finish. Ritter will compete in the long jump (7.02m), while Clark is entered in the 60-meter hurdles (8.45).
Two Cardinals will compete in the heptathlon, with graduate student
Faris Webber (Arlington, Va. / Washington Liberty) seeded fourth (3,382 points) and first-year
Michael Slominski (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) seeded seventh (3,001 points).

De'Andre Watson (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) is entered in the triple jump. Sophomores
Zach Stevens (Queensbury, N.Y. / Glens Falls) and
Nathan Webber (Cadyville, N.Y. / Saranac) will compete in the weight throw.
In his first season at Plattsburgh, Director of Cross Country and Track and Field
Nathan Petesch will guide the Cardinals into the Indoor SUNYAC Championship. With a returning program-record-holding champion and a roster full of emerging talent, the Cardinals are poised to contend for a top finish at this year's meet.
Friday's competition starts at 2:30 p.m. with the men's pentathlon 60-meter high hurdles. Saturday's events begin at 10:30 a.m., featuring the men's high jump and men's shot put.
WHAT'S NEXT: The All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championship is set for Friday, Mar. 6, and Saturday, Mar. 7, at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York, N.Y. Several Cardinals have already secured their spots, with the possibility of more qualifying at the SUNYAC Championships.
