Mae Olshansky (Las Vegas, Nev. / New Trier) of Plattsburgh State has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week for the period ending Apr. 28, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is Olshansky's first time earning the weekly honor, and she is the second Cardinal to receive the weekly honor this year after junior
Lillian Gilroy was named the defensive athlete of the week on Mar. 3.
Olshansky had a strong performance in goal for the Cardinals in their season finale against Potsdam, as she recorded a career-high 18 saves in 60 minutes of action in a close 9-7 loss. Her 18-save performance set a new program record for saves in a single game, besting the previous mark of 16. Olshansky had a 66.7% save percentage, facing 21 shots on goal and only allowing a 9.00 goals against average while also scooping up a career-high six ground balls.
Plattsburgh State concluded their season at 3-12 (1-8 SUNYAC).
