ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse team traveled to Oneonta on Wednesday for a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup with the Red Dragons, dropping its season finale 16-6. Sophomore attacker
Ashley O'Hara (Chittenango, N.Y. / The Hill School) paced the Cardinals with three points, finishing with two goals, one assist, and a game-high five draw controls.

Ellie Macdonald (Burlington, Vt. / Burlington) and senior attacker
Cynthia Barnosky (Shirley, N.Y. / William Floyd) each finished with two points. Macdonald tallied two goals, while Barnosky added a goal and an assist. Senior attacker
Erica Dickinson (Yaphank, N.Y. / Bellport) also scored for Plattsburgh. First-year goalie
Aimee Lieman (Fair Lawn, N.J. / Fair Lawn) made a career- and game-high 21 saves for the Cardinals, setting a new single-game program record.
For the Red Dragons, Emily McIntee and Lindsey Townes both finished with a game-high six points. McIntee recorded five goals and an assist, while Townes added six goals. Margot Haring earned the win in net for Oneonta.
Oneonta outshot Plattsburgh 42-13 and held a 15-9 advantage in ground balls, while the Cardinals led in draw controls, 12-10. Plattsburgh went 0-for-3 on free-position attempts, while Oneonta scored once on five opportunities. The Cardinals finished 13-for-21 on clears, while Oneonta went 15-for-18.
The first quarter saw the Cardinals held scoreless, but Lieman stood strong in net, recording seven saves as Plattsburgh entered the second quarter trailing 6-0.
Oneonta opened the second quarter with two goals, extending an eight-goal run before Plattsburgh halted the surge. Macdonald put the Cardinals on the board at the 9:25 mark, as
Maggie Maurer (Stony Point, N.Y. / North Rockland) found her cutting inside the eight-meter arc for the finish to make it 8-1. Plattsburgh did not add another goal until late in the quarter, when O'Hara scored with 0:03 remaining, sending the Cardinals into halftime trailing 11-2.
Out of the break, Plattsburgh struck first as O'Hara scored her second goal in a row to make it 11-3 with 12:03 to go. While the Cardinals were held scoreless the rest of the period, Plattsburgh held Oneonta to their lowest scoring total in any quarter and went into the final quarter with a 14-3 deficit.
The Cardinals' offense came alive in the fourth quarter after Oneonta opened the scoring. Macdonald added her second goal of the game, finishing a feed from
Chase Calandra (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy). Barnosky and Dickinson followed with goals of their own, with O'Hara assisting Barnosky, before Plattsburgh ultimately fell 16-6.
With the loss, Plattsburgh State concludes its season with a 2-13 (0-9 SUNYAC) record.
