Five Cardinals Earn IWLCA Academic Honor Roll Recognition; Women's Lacrosse Named Academic Honor Squad

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced its women's lacrosse academic awards on Wednesday, recognizing Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse student-athletes Taya Balfour (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown), Lexi Carfi (Syracuse, N.Y. / Liverpool), Sloane Carr (Victor, N.Y. / Victor), Isabella Girard (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh), and Ellie Macdonald (Burlington, Vt. / Burlington) for their academic excellence. The Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse team also earned recognition as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad.

Balfour, Carfi, Carr, Girard, and Macdonald were all named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, while the Cardinals received Academic Honor Squad recognition after posting a 3.34 team GPA during the 2025-26 academic year.

To be eligible for Academic Honor Roll recognition, student-athletes must be juniors, seniors, or graduate students and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Teams must post a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher during the academic year to receive Academic Honor Squad honors.

Balfour graduated with a degree in Business Administration and Athletic Coaching and a 3.96 cumulative GPA, while Carfi graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA.

Carr completed her junior year with a 3.86 cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. Girard finished her junior year with a 3.84 cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in Biomedical Sciences, and Macdonald completed her junior year with a 3.88 cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.
