NEW ORLEANS, La. – All-Region honors for the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Season were announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and juniors
Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall) and
Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) were each awarded Mideast All-Region honors for the Plattsburgh State men's and women's track and field teams.
Cypress had the third fastest time in the 60-meter dash, while Yarkosky's 400-meter dash time ranked fourth in the Mideast region. Top-5 Individuals in each event from each region earn All-Region honors. The full All-Region honorees can be viewed
here.
The junior Cypress picks up his second career All-Region honors, after he was a USTFCCCA Mideast All-Region honoree in the outdoor season last year, earning plaudits in the 100- and 400-meter dash. Cypress posted his best time of the season at the most important time of the year, as his 6.86 60-meter dash gave him the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title, the first of his career and his fourth career medal. The mark was also a school record, the third that he has now set for the Plattsburgh State men's track and field team in his fantastic career.
Yarkosky, who officially joined the team last spring in her sophomore year, has quickly become one of the top runners not only for Plattsburgh State, but in the SUNYAC. She ran her best 400-meter dash time of the season last weekend at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships, as her 58.47 mark helped slide her into the All-Region selection. At the SUNYAC Championship meet, she ran a time of 59.13 seconds, a personal best at the time, earning her a third-place finish and bronze medal.
The Cardinals will open their spring season in a couple of weeks, traveling to St. Lawrence on Saturday, March 29 for the SLU Open.
