MEET RESULTS
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. –
Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall) broke his own 200-meter dash, program record on Saturday as the Plattsburgh State men's track and field team competed at the Middlebury Winter Invitational. The junior sprinter, who broke the record last season, shattered his own record at Middlebury, beating his old mark by .19 seconds.
Cypress posted an All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifying time in his record-setting race, also earning the Cardinals lone first-place finish of the day in a meet crowded with Division I, Division II, and Division III talent. Cypress also posted an AARTFC mark with a blazing-fast 60-meter dash time of 6.95 seconds, a new personal best, earning him fourth place in the final.
Junior
Jordan Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) had a nice outing in the 60-meter final as well, posting a mark of 7.14 seconds for seventh place, while junior
Julius James (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) also qualified for the 60-meter final and placed ninth with a time of 7.27 seconds.
Sophomore
Ryan Beltran (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) competed in the 200-meter dash alongside Cypress and set a new personal best of 23.38 seconds, earning a seventh-place finish.
The 4x200-meter relay team of all first-years in
Christian Barjon (Garnverville, N.Y./North Rockland), Joshau Gaboriault (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac),
Jack Scauri (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge), and
Brian Shannon (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) posted a time of 1:37.20 to place third.
In the field events, sophomore
Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) took home eighth place with a mark of 6.21 meters for the top mark out of the Cardinal jumpers. First-year
Jackson Hooper (Elizabethtown, N.Y./Bouquet Valley) earned fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters.
First-year
Nathan Webber (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac) had a solid day for Plattsburgh, earning seventh in the weight throw with a 13.94-meter throw to earn seventh place. He was followed closely by first-year
Zach Stevens (Queensbury, N.Y./Glens Falls) who was ninth in the same event with his throw of 12.35 meters.
Plattsburgh State returns to action next weekend on Saturday, Jan. 25 at St. Lawrence for an 11 a.m. start.
