2024 Plattsburgh State Women's Soccer Schedule
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State Women's Soccer team has its eyes set on the program's tenth straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoff appearance in 2024, looking to make some noise in the postseason in 2024 under third-year head coach
Whitney Frary.
The team is coming off a strong finish to the 2023 season, going 5-1-2 to wrap up the regular season to clinch the third seed in the SUNYAC, hosting a first-round playoff game for the second straight season. The team fell to defending SUNYAC Champions Geneseo, as they wrapped up their season at 7-5-5 and 4-1-4 in conference.
Plattsburgh State will kick off its season on the road in the 2024 Stand on Their Shoulders Invitational hosted by William Smith, where they will take on the host Herons, who finished the season ranked 20
th nationally, on Friday, Aug. 30 in their season opener. The team then takes on the College of New Jersey (TCNJ), who finished the season ranked 24
th, the following day, Saturday, Aug. 31 to wrap up their first-weekend road trip. The team continues with road action the following week, traveling to Vermont State University (VTSU) Castleton on Sept. 4 and then to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Sept. 7.
The Cards finally play at home on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in their home opener against Skidmore on the Field House Complex Turf, kicking off a three-game homestand. The team next plays RIT on Saturday, Sept. 14, for a tough matchup with an NCAA Tournament qualifier last season and then concludes their home stand against Clarkson on Wednesday, Sept. 18 in midweek non-conference action.
The Cardinals open up SUNYAC play on the road at Fredonia on Saturday, Sept. 21, and then head to Morrisville the following weekend on Saturday, Sept. 28 to take on the Mustangs.
The October schedule continues with a road matchup with St. Lawrence on Wednesday, Oct. 2 before the Cards play their first SUNYAC home game against the defending conference champions Cortland on Saturday, Oct. 5. The following week, the Cardinals take on Oneonta on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and then return home to host Buffalo State on Saturday, Oct. 12. Plattsburgh once again heads on the road midweek, taking on New Paltz on Wednesday, Oct. 16 and once again returns home on Saturday, Oct. 19 to take on Oswego State and kick off a four-game homestand to conclude the regular season. Plattsburgh takes on Potsdam on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and then hosts their Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 26 against Canton at 1 p.m. The regular season concludes for the Cards against VTSU-Johnson on Tuesday, Oct. 29, with a 7 p.m. start.
The top six teams in the final regular-season conference standings will qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament, with the first-round set for Nov. 2, the semifinals set for Nov. 6, and the championship set for Nov. 9. The top two seeds earn byes to the semifinals, while the bottom four seeds begin the tournament in the first round on Nov. 2.
