SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Plattsburgh State baseball pitcher
Kolby Mordecki (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) earned State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season on the period ending on April 14, as announced on Monday by the conference office. Mordecki is the first pitcher in program history to win the award twice in the same season.
Mordecki started two games for Plattsburgh last week, opening their win over Clarkson and then picking up the series-opening win over Fredonia on Saturday. Mordecki retired all three batters he faced against Clarkson and then turned in his best start of the season against Fredonia, earning his third win of the year. He went seven strong against the Blue Devils, starting the eighth inning before giving way to the bullpen as he struck out seven, scattered six hits, and allowed one earned run. The start lowered his season ERA to 3.60, the fourth-best mark in the SUNYAC.
The Cardinals are currently 16-7 (5-4 SUNYAC) on the season and take on Middlebury at home on Tuesday, April 16 at 3 p.m.
