PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.
 – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team kicks off its 2024-25 indoor season on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Saints Holiday Relays hosted by St. Lawrence University and looks to continue to climb the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) standings.

The Cardinals, who are led by fourth-year head coach Andrew Krug, placed sixth at last year's conference meet, and return both senior Noah Bonesteel (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) and junior Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall), who each took home bronze medals in last year's SUNYAC Indoor Championship meet to lead the team on the track this year.

Distance

Fresh off of the cross country season, Plattsburgh State has a strong group of distance runners who will look to contribute, led by Bonesteel who earned third place in the mile run at last year's SUNYAC Championships.

The returning group from last year's indoor squad includes Peter Basile (Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y. / Maple Hill), Zander Brown (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Roy C. Ketcham), Erik Kucera (Mount Sinai, N.Y. / Mount Sinai), Justin Kumrow (Mahopac, N.Y. / Mahopac), Matthias Lauvau (Rye, N.Y. / Rye Park), Lukas McIntosh (Schodack Landing, N.Y. / Maple Hill), Graham Richard (Albany, N.Y. / Albany), Denali Rodriguez-Garnica (Port Henry, N.Y. / Moriah), and JT Zimmerman (Middlesex, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman).

The new additions who are fresh off their first collegiate cross country season at Plattsburgh are Sam Faga (Albany, N.Y./Niskayuna), Jack Natali Jr. (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands), Brody Olden (Warrensburg, N.Y./Warrensburg), and Ayden Wefer (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor).

Mid-Distance

The team's mid-distance in 2024-25 includes two returners this season, with sophomores Matt DeJulio (Wynantskill, N.Y./Averill Park) and Ethan Mulholland (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh), who had a solid indoor season last year as a jumper. The newcomers this season for the Cardinals will be Tristen Duranti (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown Heights), Joshua Gaboriault (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac), and Jack Gregory (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland).

Multis

Faris Webber (Arlington, Va./Washington Liberty) is the lone member of the multis group this season, as he was the 13th place finisher in the heptathlon last season.

Hurdles

The hurdles group is led by two returners in sophomore Tyler Baker (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) and senior Sean Ramirez (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale), while Thomas Clark (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) will also be a part of the hurdles unit for the upcoming season.

Jumps

The Cardinals return five jumpers this season to go along with three newcomers in the 2024-25 season. Sophomore Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) led all Plattsbrugh jumpers in last year's meet in the long jump, finishing tenth, just missing out on scoring for the Cards. Other returners included Locke Gerken (Berne, N.Y./Berne-Knox-Westerlo), Julius James (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes), Sampson Lin (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East), and De'Andre Watson (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh).

Cypress was the third-place finisher in the in the SUNYAC Championship's 200-meter dash last season, an event he currently holds the school record in.

Junior Jordan Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) also returns in 2024-25 for the Cardinals after he finished fourth in the 60-meter dash at the SUNYAC championship meet and qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championship meet. Other returning sprinters include sophomores Ryan Beltran (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes), Aidan Lobdell (Westport, N.Y./Bouquet Valley), Justin Rushia (Warrensburg, N.Y./Warrensburg), Kalvin Smith (Bronx, N.Y./Dewitt Clinton), and Ryan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore).
