2024-25 Roster
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team kicks off its 2024-25 indoor season on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Saints Holiday Relays hosted by St. Lawrence University and looks to continue to climb the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) standings.
The Cardinals, who are led by fourth-year head coach
Andrew Krug, placed sixth at last year's conference meet, and return both senior
Noah Bonesteel (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) and junior
Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall), who each took home bronze medals in last year's SUNYAC Indoor Championship meet to lead the team on the track this year.
Distance
Fresh off of the cross country season, Plattsburgh State has a strong group of distance runners who will look to contribute, led by Bonesteel who earned third place in the mile run at last year's SUNYAC Championships.
The returning group from last year's indoor squad includes
Peter Basile (Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y. / Maple Hill),
Zander Brown (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Roy C. Ketcham),
Erik Kucera (Mount Sinai, N.Y. / Mount Sinai),
Justin Kumrow (Mahopac, N.Y. / Mahopac),
Matthias Lauvau (Rye, N.Y. / Rye Park),
Lukas McIntosh (Schodack Landing, N.Y. / Maple Hill),
Graham Richard (Albany, N.Y. / Albany),
Denali Rodriguez-Garnica (Port Henry, N.Y. / Moriah), and
JT Zimmerman (Middlesex, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman).
The new additions who are fresh off their first collegiate cross country season at Plattsburgh are
Sam Faga (Albany, N.Y./Niskayuna),
Jack Natali Jr. (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands),
Brody Olden (Warrensburg, N.Y./Warrensburg), and
Ayden Wefer (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor).
Mid-Distance
The team's mid-distance in 2024-25 includes two returners this season, with sophomores
Matt DeJulio (Wynantskill, N.Y./Averill Park) and
Ethan Mulholland (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh), who had a solid indoor season last year as a jumper. The newcomers this season for the Cardinals will be
Tristen Duranti (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown Heights),
Joshua Gaboriault (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac), and
Jack Gregory (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland).
Multis
Faris Webber (Arlington, Va./Washington Liberty) is the lone member of the multis group this season, as he was the 13
th place finisher in the heptathlon last season.
Hurdles
The hurdles group is led by two returners in sophomore
Tyler Baker (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) and senior
Sean Ramirez (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale), while
Thomas Clark (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) will also be a part of the hurdles unit for the upcoming season.
Jumps
The Cardinals return five jumpers this season to go along with three newcomers in the 2024-25 season. Sophomore
Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) led all Plattsbrugh jumpers in last year's meet in the long jump, finishing tenth, just missing out on scoring for the Cards. Other returners included
Locke Gerken (Berne, N.Y./Berne-Knox-Westerlo),
Julius James (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes),
Sampson Lin (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East), and
De'Andre Watson (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh).
The newcomers to the unit in 2024-25 are
Drew Duncan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown Heights),
Jackson Hooper (Elizabethtown, N.Y./Bouquet Valley), and
Trevon Mitchell (Peru, N.Y./Peru).
Sprints
Despite the departure of
Brexton Montville, who was one of the top sprinters in the conference and region, the Cardinals should have a talented group returning in 2024-25, led by Cypress. Cypress was the third-place finisher in the in the SUNYAC Championship's 200-meter dash last season, an event he currently holds the school record in.
Junior
Jordan Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) also returns in 2024-25 for the Cardinals after he finished fourth in the 60-meter dash at the SUNYAC championship meet and qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championship meet. Other returning sprinters include sophomores
Ryan Beltran (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes),
Aidan Lobdell (Westport, N.Y./Bouquet Valley),
Justin Rushia (Warrensburg, N.Y./Warrensburg),
Kalvin Smith (Bronx, N.Y./Dewitt Clinton), and
Ryan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore).
New sprinters joining the team in 2024-25 include
Zashon Abrams (Morrisonville, N.Y./Saranac), Christina Barjon (Garnerville, N.Y./North Rockland),
Jack Scauri (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge),
Brian Shannon (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen), and
Hassani St. John (Trinidad and Tobago).
Throws
The Cardinals return just two throwers for this season as
Chandler Baxter (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg) and
Thomas Konnick (Cooperstown, N.Y./Laurens) will look to be consistent scorers this season. Newcomers this year are
Gavin Bobbie (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Seton Catholic),
Manny Oliver (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove),
Zach Stevens (Queensbury, N.Y./Glens Falls), and
Nathan Webber (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac)
Schedule
The Cardinals kick off the season on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the first SLU Open hosted by St. Lawrence University in their lone meet of the first semester. Plattsburgh State rings in the new year on Saturday, Jan. 18 when they visit Middlebury for the Middlebury Winter Invitational. The winter schedule then continues with a second trip to St. Lawrence, this time for the St. Lawrence Invitational which will occur on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Plattsburgh State will host their only home meet of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 4 in the Plattsburgh State Tuesday Track and Field Meet, which will begin at 4 p.m. in the Field House. The following Friday, the Cards will head to Staten Island for the Fastrack National Invitational, hosted by the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Feb. 7. The team will also bring qualifiers to the DIII Elite Meet on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 hosted by Nazareth. The Cardinals then wrap up their regular season for indoor heading to St. Lawrence for the third time at the SLU Open, which will be on Saturday, Feb. 21.
The two-day State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship meet will occur from Friday-Saturday, Feb. 28 and Mar. 1, at The College at Brockport, while the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships will take place from Friday-Saturday, Mar. 7-8, at Ithaca College. The 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships are slated for Friday-Saturday, March 14-15, at Nazareth College
Head coach
Andrew Krug enters his fourth season at the helm of the Plattsburgh State track and field program in 2024-25, also marking his 16
th season with the program overall. The men are coming off a sixth-place finish at the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
