2024 Schedule
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State baseball program has unveiled its 2024 schedule as announced Thursday by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation.
Entering their third season under head coach
Sam Quinn-Loeb, the Cardinals will look to make the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoffs for the second time in their last three seasons after they made the postseason for the first time in a decade in 2022. The team will open up their season with doubleheaders at SUNY Cobleskill (Mar. 3), and Mount Saint Mary College (Mar. 9) and will then make the trip to Middlebury College for their first nine-inning game on Tuesday, Mar. 12.
The team's spring break trip kicks offwith a doubleheader at The City College of New York (Mar. 16) and a game the day after at Farmingdale State College. Plattsburgh will continue its streak of games on Mar. 18 with a game at Penn State Berks, followed by their first three-game series of the year at The College at Old Westbury, which consists of one game on Tuesday, Mar. 19, and a doubleheader on Wednesday, Mar. 20. The Cardinals will finish their Spring Break trip with a single game at John Jay College (Mar. 21) before moving to their first conference series of the year against SUNY New Paltz, with the first game being played on Friday, Mar. 22, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 23. Conference doubleheaders will be two nine-inning games, as the SUNYAC will begin their second year with this change.
On-the-road conference play continues Friday, Mar.29, against SUNY Cortland, with the series consisting of a single game on Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar.30. April competition will kick off with two non-conference games, the first at Clarkson University (Apr. 2), and then the home-opener against St. Lawrence University (Apr. 3). Conference play resumes with an at-home series against Oswego State, with the series starting with a single game on Friday, Apr. 5, and continue Saturday, Apr. 6, with a doubleheader. The Cardinals' next competition will be Apr.10 when Clarkson makes the trip to Chip Cummings Field for a single game.
The Cardinals are back on the road for a conference series against Fredonia, with games on Apr. 12 and Apr. 13 (DH). Plattsburgh is then back home on Apr. 16 to take on Middlebury College and travels to St. Lawrence the following day for a single nine-inning affair. SUNYAC play resumes when they host SUNY Oneonta on Apr. 19, and Apr. 20 (DH) for a pivotal conference series and continues their home stretch the following when they host SUNY Canton on Apr. 23. The Cardinals will then hit the road for a single game against Norwich University on Apr. 24 and then will end the regular season SUNYAC play with a series at home against SUNY Brockport, hosting games on Apr. 26, and Apr. 27 (DH). The Cards will conclude their regular season with a doubleheader at SUNY Canton on Apr. 30.
The top four teams in the final regular-season SUNYAC standings will qualify for the double-elimination SUNYAC Tournament, which will run from Thursday-Sunday, May 9-12, at the site of the top-seed.
