BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Junior 
Brexton Montville (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac) won the 100-meter dash and placed second in the 200-meter dash, helping lead the Plattsburgh State men's track and field team to a fifth-place finish out of nine teams with 27 points at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Championships hosted by SUNY Brockport following the second and final day of competition on Saturday afternoon.
 
It marked Plattsburgh State's best finish in the team standings at the SUNYAC outdoor meet since a fifth-place result in 2011.
 
Montville won the 100-meter dash in 10.94, besting Brockport's senior Olivier Kothor by one one-hundredth of a second. He then ran a personal best in the 200-meter dash, clocking a second-place time of 21.76.
 
Sophomore 
Cody Monnat (Croghan, N.Y./Beaver River) placed seventh in the 400-meter dash (51.48), while junior 
Aidan Tous (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) scored points for the Cardinals individually as well, taking eight in the shot put (12.89 meters – 42' 3.5"). The men's 4x100-meter relay team of first-year student 
Nicolas Anderson (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows), junior 
Cameron Giuliano (Shokan, N.Y./Onteora), senior 
Michael Meddings (Massena, N.Y./Massena) and sophomore 
Levi Sochia (Norfolk, N.Y./Norwood-Norfolk) combined for a sixth-place time of 46.41, while the 4x400-meter relay squad of Anderson, Giuliano, sophomore 
Logan Van Buren (Port Henry, N.Y./Moriah) and first-year student 
Noah Bonesteel (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) took sixth as well (3:35.66).
 
Other performances for the Cardinals on Saturday included Bonesteel in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (ninth, 10:13.11), Van Buren in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11th, 10:43.03) and Tous in the discus throw (12th, 37.12 meters – 121' 9").
 
Plattsburgh State next competes at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Outdoor Championships from Wednesday-Thursday, May 18-19, at Moravian College.
