Montville Wins 60-Meter Dash to Lead Men's Track and Field at Middlebury Indoor Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.
– Junior Brexton Montville (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac) finished first in the 60-meter dash, helping lead the Plattsburgh State men's track and field team to a sixth-place finish out of eight teams with 27 points at the Middlebury Indoor Invitational hosted by Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon.
 
Montville was the fifth-fastest qualifier in the preliminary heats of the 60-meter dash, clocking a time of 7.26. He went on to shave nearly a tenth of a second off his prelim time in finals, charting a winning time of 7.17. Montville also took fourth in the 200-meter dash (23.22).
 
Junior Aidan Tous (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) also scored in multiple events, placing fifth in the shot put (11.56 meters – 37' 11.25") and sixth in the weight throw (11.40 meters – 37' 5").
 
Sophomore Cody Monnat (Croghan, N.Y./Beaver River) and first-year student Justin Kumrow (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) finished seventh in the 400-meter dash (53.52) and the 1,000-meter run (3:02.23), respectively, while sophomore Jorge Cabrera (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon) placed eighth in the weight throw (10.80 meters – 35' 5.25").
 
NCAA Division I University of Vermont won the team title with 214 points, while host Middlebury placed second (170 points).

Plattsburgh State next competes at the Pioneer Invitational hosted by Utica College on Saturday, Feb. 5.
