CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team scored in a pair of events on the second and final day of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at SUNY Cortland.
Plattsburgh State's 4x100-meter relay team of sophomores
Cameron Giuliano (Shokan, N.Y./Onteora),
Brexton Montville (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac), Aiden Masten (Peru, N.Y./Seton Catholic) and
Cameron Aviles (Campbell Hall, N.Y./Washingtonville) finished fourth in the event, charting a time of 45.86. In the meet's final event, the 4x400-meter relay, the Cardinals placed sixth, as the quartet of Montville, Aviles, senior
Arthur Horan (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) and Giuliano clocked a time of 3:34.64.
Senior
Brendon VanVlack (Duanesburg, N.Y./Duanesburg) placed ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, registering a time of 10:26.93, while sophomore
Aidan Tous (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) took ninth in the shot put with a mark of 11.94 meters (39' 2.25").
The Cardinals finished ninth out of nine teams at the meet with five points. SUNY Geneseo won the team title with 229 points, overtaking SUNY Brockport in the final events at the meet with a 31-point showing in the 5,000-meter run.
Those who have qualified for the meet will next compete at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships from Wednesday-Thursday, May 19-20, at St. John Fisher College.
