CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team opened up its 2021-22 indoor season with a third-place finish out of five teams at the Saints Holiday Relays hosted by St. Lawrence University on Saturday, scoring 87 points.
 
Utica College took first with 173 points, while St. Lawrence University placed second (127). Le Moyne College (70) and SUNY Potsdam (13) rounded out the remainder of the team standings.
 
Junior Jared Davidson (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) won the 300-meter dash, clocking in at 36.92. Davidson is the meet record holder in the event from the 2019-20 indoor season.
 
Second-place finishes came from junior Brexton Montville (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac) in the 300-meter dash (37.21), first-year student Noah Bonesteel (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) in the mile run (4:34.60), first-year student Daniel Pavelec (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) in the 3,000-meter run (9:26.10), the 4x200-meter relay (1:34.65) of Montville, first-year student Nicolas Anderson (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows), sophomore Cody Monnat (Croghan, N.Y./Beaver River) and Davidson and the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (3:57.79) of Anderson, sophomore Levi Sochia (Norfolk, N.Y./Norwood-Norfolk), first-year student Thomas McDonough (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) and Monnat. The distance medley relay quartet of first-year students Ethan Hodge (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) and Peter Basile (Castleton, N.Y./Maple Hill), sophomore Sean Grady (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) and first-year student Denali Rodriguez-Garnica (Port Henry, N.Y./Moriah) placed third with a time of 13:01.31.
 
Plattsburgh State has more than a month off from competition until it returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the St. Lawrence Invitational.
