Barber Breaks 400 Hurdles Record, Plympton Second In 200, Boerke Third In Heptathlon At AARTFC Championship

CORTLAND, N.Y. - 
The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team finished sixth of 41 teams after two days at the All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships hosted by SUNY Cortland at the White Stadium.

Sophomore Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y. / Saranac Central) broke her own program 400-meter hurdle record with a time of 1:02.56, which placed her third.

Her old record of 1:03.17 was set on May 4, 2019 at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship meet.

Junior Elisabeth Plympton (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.28 seconds and took sixth in the 400-meters with a personal best of 57.72 seconds.

Freshman Kristen Boerke (Washingtonville, N.Y. / Washingtonville) finished third in the heptathlon with a personal best of 3899 points.

On Wednesday, Boerke ran 16.01 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, 27.35 seconds in the 200-meters, threw 7.91 meters (25' 11.5") in shot put and jumped 1.53 meters (5' 0.25") in high jump. Her 200 time and shot put mark are personal bests.

On Thursday, she ran 2:36.36 in the 800-meters, jumped 5.07 meters (16' 7.75") in long jump and threw 18.50 meters (60' 8") in javelin.

Freshman Aislyn McDonough (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Northeastern Clinton) was 10th in the 800-meters with a time of 2:22.87.

Junior Brianna Coon (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) took 12th in the shot put with a mark of 11.68 meters (38' 4").

The NCAA Division III will announce the official entries for the 2019 Outdoor Track & Field Championship this weekend, which is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25 at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
